Some loving descriptions of kitchen work from 'The Fell Hound of Adversity', with accompanying illustration I scratched out that tries to capture the mood:

The small kitchen was overrun, order slips tacked to the bulkhead over the line in such quantity any errant gesture would bring a rain of paper down onto the prep area. Jason-Joe erupted into an outpouring of invective, at turns cursing and cajoling, running up the line sneaking bites of cold-cut and generally trying to appear busy while getting in everyone's way.
